Hawaiian Building Maintenance was founded in 1957 in Honolulu as a janitorial services company. As Hawai’i’s commercial landscape evolved, so did we. Over the decades, HBM expanded its capabilities to meet the growing needs of property owners and managers—moving from single-service delivery to integrated building support across multiple disciplines. Today, HBM operates as a full-service asset services partner, supporting performance, reliability, and long-term value across the Hawaiian Islands. We currently perform janitorial building services, mechanical engineering, HVAC and maintenance services for numerous commercial, retail, and residential properties on Kaua'i, O'ahu, Maui, and Hawai'i island. We also offer restoration services for various issues, including water damage, fire damage, and mold remediation on Oahu.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate in English with team members and property managers to ensure smooth operations and a collaborative work environment.
• Maintain cleanliness of all common areas within the building, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing floors, and carpet cleaning.
• Remove and properly dispose of trash in designated areas to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Clean restrooms, walk paths, and restock necessary supplies to ensure all areas meet high standards of hygiene and appearance.
• Stand and walk for extended periods while performing cleaning tasks with attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and guidelines to promote a safe workplace.
• Report safety issues or building problems (e.g., burnt light bulbs).
• Perform any additional duties as assigned to support overall building maintenance and team success.

Requirements

• Must pass HBM prescreen check.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous janitorial, custodian experience, or related experience is preferred (willing to train).
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with team members and management.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Willingness to follow all safety protocols and report any issues promptly.
• Must perform basic manual labor, including pressing, pushing, pulling, frequently lifting 40 lbs, carrying a minimum of 25 lbs (up to 50 lbs), reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, walking, crawling, squatting, climbing, stretching, walking up and down stairs, and using a ladder.
• Ability to stand throughout shifts.

$16.00 per hour

Sunday to Thursday, 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM or 4:30 PM - 9:30 PM
