Part-Time Cook

About the role

As a Cook, you will prepare food according to menus, recipes and planned events for residents and their guests. You will take on a rewarding position with an innovative company where hard work pays off and advancement is always a possibility.

Schedule

Part‑Time; shifts run 6:00 am–2:00 pm and 11:00 am–7:00 pm.

Requirements

• High school diploma (or equivalent) or technical school
• Minimum of three years of line cook experience and/or training
• Good communication skills

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare food for residents, guests, and employees
• Prepare food according to the planned menu using standard recipes
• Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions
• Assist other kitchen staff as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Ensure that sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared
• Communicate with supervisor of shortages or outages
• Ensure freshness, cooking status, and proper seasoning of all foods served
• Stock and clean station for next shift
• Follow proper food rotation policies
• Consistently maintain a positive attitude which supports a team environment
• Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests
• Knowledgeable of resident rights; ensure an atmosphere allowing privacy, dignity, and well‑being in a safe, secure environment
• Maintain safety, including universal precautions, safe work practices, fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, sanitation, and security
• Clean and inspect kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
• Present professional appearance by wearing uniform and name tag

Working conditions

• Standing for long periods
• Communicate effectively, sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment
• Occasionally reach with hands and arms
• Ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Moderate noise level
• Occasional travel to different locations may be required
