Position Summary
The Civil Engineer provides technical engineering support within GSE Solutions’ Design & Analysis division, delivering high-quality engineering work on time and within budget while supporting nuclear and industrial projects. This part-time, on-call position performs engineering calculations, design activities, technical evaluations, and drawing/specification reviews to develop effective engineering solutions. The Civil Engineer collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful project execution. This position also supports project planning efforts by assisting with scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Pay Range
$80.00–$95.00 per hour, DOE

Essential Functions
- Plan, conceptualize, and develop engineering designs for assigned projects.
- Develop and implement testing processes to support design validation and project objectives.
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis using both manual methods and engineering software.
- Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications to support project execution.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Maintain detailed documentation to track project development and engineering design activities.
- Build and maintain client relationships through meetings, site visits, and virtual collaboration while supporting identification of new business opportunities.
- Support Project Managers and Project Controls in preparing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and proposal efforts.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and consultants as appropriate.
- Support other engineering disciplines and Responsible Engineers as project needs require.

- Ability to obtain unescorted access to nuclear facilities and other client locations.
- Ability to travel as business needs require.
Education & Experience
- BS Degree in Discipline Engineering or Discipline Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum 5 years of design engineering experience supporting nuclear and/or industrial projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred but not required.
