Civil/ Construction Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Civil/Construction Engineer with a strong background in managing construction projects. The ideal candidate will self-perform and lead project teams in planning and designing construction projects, while also contributing to the growth of the construction group.

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure the adequacy of project budgets and schedules.
  • Observe and document construction activities according to project procedures.
  • Measure and calculate quantities of work performed.
  • Prepare and submit daily work reports, engineer diaries, and other project documentation.
  • Communicate progress, address technical issues, and report on remaining work.
  • Review and provide input on plans, specifications, and submittals.
  • Offer design assistance and support to project managers.
  • Maintain company-owned vehicles or equipment used on the project.
  • Expand construction service lines by building relationships, mentoring staff, and leading key projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in construction roles, with project leadership experience a plus.
  • Prior experience with State DOTs, cities, counties, or local municipalities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to mentor less experienced staff.
  • Drive for business development and relationship building.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical fitness to work outside on foot for extended periods.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in construction management software.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The position offers flexibility within the Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, and Northcentral regions of Wisconsin, with onsite work for construction projects and periodic reporting to our Wisconsin offices in Milwaukee, Neenah, and Madison.
