Civil Engineer
About the role
As a Civil Engineer at ADA Engineering, a GHD company, you will be responsible for the preparation of comprehensive stormwater management reports including resiliency and adaptation, drainage design, and environmental permitting with water management districts and other municipalities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects with a focus on stormwater management design and permitting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive stormwater management reports including resiliency and adaptation, drainage design, and environmental permitting with water management districts and other municipalities.
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
- Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
- Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
- Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer license from the State of Florida is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in stormwater management including master plan development, design and permitting.
- Efficient technical writing skills to develop drainage studies and reports.
- Experience with local permitting agencies.
- Proficiency with modeling software such as ICPR 4 and XPSWMM.
