Civil Engineer (Hybrid Schedule)
About the role
The Engineer in this role will work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. We offer a unique and exciting opportunity to explore the best of both worlds, working both in the office and in the field on a variety of interesting projects. Areas of expertise include designing new substations and infrastructure, analyzing systems and disruptions to service, working with transformers, engineering the electrical protection and control circuits that handle the flow of power, and dealing with acceptance testing of equipment, failures of equipment and analysis of system disturbances.
Responsibilities
- Develop, expand, and design the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization.
- Ensure civil, structural, and site development designs and calculations for electrical substations are aligned with high quality standards.
- Collaborate with Substation Engineering and Design to communicate project details and ensure all system additions, removals, and modifications are properly designed for safe operation and maintenance.
- Adhere to project schedules, including detailed planning of successive construction phases to effectively implement designs while accounting for outage durations and maintaining realistic timelines.
- Coordinate with Substation Engineering and Design to ensure all system additions, removals, and modifications are properly designed for safe operation and maintenance.
- Perform root-cause analysis and support the development and implementation of corrective actions.
- Review engineering vendor submittals and participate in vendor meetings to address comments and questions throughout the design and review cycle.
- Review all construction drawings and design documentation prior to issuance to construction contractors.
- Ensure all work complies with Eversource standards and applicable codes.
- Verify the accurate design and specification of additions, modifications, and replacements to transmission and distribution systems in accordance with project schedules.
- Provide Civil Engineering support during construction, including resolving field questions and approving field-generated changes to issued designs.
Requirements
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Software proficiency: RISA (3D, Foundation, Connection) and MathCAD.
- Additional beneficial software experience: AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, L-Pile, PLS Tower, TNX Tower, Retain Pro, and HydroCAD.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program (required).
- 3-5 years of civil/structural experience (required), preferably in the electrical utility industry.
- Hold a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license (preferred).
- Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred).
Qualifications
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
- A valid driver’s license is required.

- Annual salary range for this position is $100,490.00-$111,660.00.
- This position is eligible for a potential incentive.

The role is offered on a hybrid schedule, allowing employees to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
