Part-Time Children’s Minister
Job Summary
The purpose of the children’s ministry at Paramount BIC is to sow the seeds of faith in Jesus into the lives of children, inviting them to a life of discipleship to him, and partnering with parents as they teach and train their children for a life of following Jesus. The Pastor/Director of Children’s Ministries shall collaborate with the Pastoral Staff to oversee the children’s ministries of the church.
Organizational Relationship
The Pastor/Director of Children’s Ministries shall be selected by a search committee formed for the position, then presented for ratification to a meeting of the Church Board. They shall be accountable throughout the week to the Senior Pastor and submit a bi-monthly report to the Church Board, as an ex officio member of the board. They shall likewise exercise spiritual accountability with the Deacons Board, and collaborate with other ministry leaders on the Church Ministries Board.
Qualifications
- Evidence a genuine faith in Jesus Christ and a clear calling to Christian Ministry.
- Evidence both a giftedness to fulfill the tasks outlined in this job description and a willingness to work in a team setting with both full-time and lay ministry staff.
- Possess adequate training or experience to lead the children’s ministry.
- Approval by the Bishop of the Allegheny Conference of the Brethren in Christ
Duties
- Collaborate with Pastoral Staff to develop, initiate, and administrate an appropriate plan for the children’s ministries of Paramount BIC. To include: Kids Church, Nursery, Mid-week children’s programming.
- Assisting the Children’s Sunday School Superintendent, as needed.
- Developing other children’s ministries as opportunities arise.
- Provide oversight and direction for the children’s ministries of Paramount BIC and its volunteers.
- Teach children and lead volunteers during Children’s Ministry events.
- Attend bi-monthly meetings of the Church board and quarterly meetings of the Church Ministries Board, in order to facilitate collaboration among church ministries.
- Submit an annual, written report to Congregational Council.
- Work closely with the Senior Pastor, in order to foster visible unity among the staff and effective ministry to the congregation and community.
- Employ gifts and passions to contribute to the overall ministry of Paramount BIC under the direction of the Pastor.
