Part-time Cafeteria Attendant-7hrs-7am-2pm-Curley K-8 School-FNS (SY26-27)

This position is an anticipated vacancy expected to be vacant by 8/14/26. The current incumbent may rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation until the vacancy date. Hire confirmation depends on the position being vacated, and you may start as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year.

Location: 40 Pershing Rd, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
Hours: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM (7 hours/day)
City of Boston residency is required.

About the Role

The part-time cafeteria attendant is a staff member who assumes responsibilities and duties assigned by the director and reports to the Cafeteria Manager.

Responsibilities

• Cook, prepare, and safely handle food.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and facilities.
• Serve food and assist with record keeping.
• Perform assigned duties efficiently, including food preparation, serving, kitchen cleaning, and cash register operation.
• Attend required training meetings.
• Report to work as scheduled, sign the posted time sheet, and remain on the job until dismissed by the manager.
• Notify the manager and main office promptly if unable to work.
• Maintain pleasant working relations with colleagues by demonstrating patience, respect, and self-control.
• Follow all School Committee policies and Cafeteria Manager instructions regarding safety, sanitation, and work methods.
• Assist with food preparation, portioning, and serving food after receiving instructions on portion sizes.
• Clean kitchen equipment, work areas, floors, dining room tables, dishes, trays, flatware, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Set up the serving counter and unpack/stock supplies on dry storage and refrigerator shelves.
• Operate equipment safely and perform additional duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
• Food Safety Certification for Managers.

Preferred Qualifications

• ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate.
