About the role

Part-time Cafeteria Attendant at Blackstone Elementary School (380 Shawmut Ave, South End, MA 02118). Position is 7 hours per day, 7am–2pm, reporting to the Cafeteria Manager. The part-time cafeteria attendant is a staff member who assumes the responsibilities and duties assigned by the director.

Responsibilities

• Cooking the food (primary responsibility)
• Safe preparation and handling of food
• Cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities
• Serving of food
• Assisting with record keeping
• Performing efficiently and to the best of ability the duties assigned related to food preparation, serving, cleaning kitchen areas, or other assigned duties (may include cash register operation) within the allotted time
• Attending training meetings as required
• Reporting to work as scheduled, signing the posted time sheet, and remaining on the job until dismissal by the manager
• Notifying the manager and main office at the earliest possible time when unable to work
• Maintaining pleasant working relations with fellow employees by showing consideration (patience, respect, self‑control), refraining from offensive language and other undesirable traits
• Following all School Committee policies and Cafeteria Manager instructions regarding safety, sanitation, personnel standards, work techniques, and methods
• Performing duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, and serving of food
• Assisting with food preparation
• Portioning food
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and work area including floor
• Setting up serving counter
• Serving food on line after receiving portion size instructions
• Washing dishes, trays, flatware, pots, pans, and utensils
• Washing dining room tables
• Unpacking supplies and assisting with stocking dry storage and/or refrigerator shelves
• Operating equipment properly, maintaining safety standards at all times
• Performing duties as assigned by Cafeteria Manager

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current authorization to work in the United States (must have by first day of employment)
• Food Safety Certification for Managers required
