About the Role

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is seeking an Athletic Recreation Assistant to join the team. This part-time position involves preparing and lining athletic fields for reservations, repairing and maintaining athletic courts and equipment (e.g., soccer goals, lacrosse nets), and assisting with general upkeep and groundskeeping during special events at athletic complexes. The incumbent will serve as the Athletics Liaison during special events and tournaments and assist with managing facility reservations and contracts as needed.

This position is located at various parks in Central Charlotte and requires a flexible schedule of about 29 hours per week, including daytime hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays based on facility and business needs. Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and handle funds in a park facility through telephone, email, website, social media, and in-person interactions for information, program registration, facility daily use, and rentals.
• Ensure the safety of participants and spectators; administer first aid when necessary.
• Enforce rules and regulations.
• Collect fees and process registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals.
• Assist in the maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
• May referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper, or linesperson at games.
• Assist with recreational programs for all ages.
• Handle inquiries and complaints from the public.
• Assist with special events and field trips.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License with County Driving Privileges.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• General knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

Pay starts at $20.00 per hour.
