About the role
The DNR Division of Parks and Trails seeks multiple Parks and Trails Associates to support park and trail operations across the Northwest Region of Minnesota. The typical season runs from April through October, with flexible work schedules including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Register campers, sell merchandise, provide information to the public, and clean buildings, fixtures, and bathroom facilities.
- Sell park vehicle permits, merchandise items and consumables, register campers, rent buildings, and collect fees.
- Act as a representative of the DNR, Division of Parks and Trails, providing information to the public and keeping supervisors informed.
- Clean buildings, grounds, and facilities as directed.
- Organize reservations, assist in compiling weekly income reports, and provide miscellaneous clerical support.
- Perform security duties, ensuring the safety of parks and trails visitors and state park and trail property and resources.
Requirements
- Ability to manage work tasks effectively and work independently with limited supervision.
- Teamwork skills sufficient to help colleagues complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Problem-solving skills sufficient to handle uncertain situations related to customer service.
- Ability to operate point of sale systems and computers to accurately count and collect fees.
- Customer service skills sufficient to interpret and explain program information to customers, clients, and coworkers.
- Math skills sufficient to make change, apply simple formulas, calculate account balances and amounts owed.
Qualifications
- Ability to meet the physical requirements and work in the environmental conditions of the position.
- Experience or training in software such as Microsoft Office, retail sales and/or customer service, database and records management, first aid and CPR training or certification.
Skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Customer service skills.
