Parks Maintenance Worker - 3 Month Seasonal

About the role

This position is responsible for maintaining specific park areas and supervising scheduled public activities in assigned areas. The role reports to the Park Maintenance Assistant Supervisor and Parks Operations Supervisor or any other employee with higher classification. Work is primarily outdoors in varied weather conditions and terrain, with a schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance of park buildings and grounds, including:
  • Picking up litter and emptying garbage cans
  • Weeding flowerbeds and watering trees/plants
  • Painting, mowing, and operating hand/power tools and equipment
  • Operating city vehicles
  • Cleaning restrooms, mopping floors, and washing windows
  • Preparing baseball/softball fields for play
• Communicate with the public in a polite and professional manner
• Set up and work at City-sponsored special events as needed
• Complete Incident Report Forms immediately after situations occur and route them to the Parks Supervisor
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Degree or GED
• Must be 18 years of age
• Must successfully pass a background check
• Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license

• Knowledge of a wide variety of power tools and equipment
• Skill in using hand tools

• Ability to:
  • Work outdoors in varied weather conditions
