Parks & Beautification Area Caretaker

Job Description

Perform manual, skilled, and unskilled labor in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of grounds and facilities at and around City parks/facilities and on or adjacent to public rights-of-way. Performs general construction, maintenance, and repairs to a wide array of City buildings and infrastructure.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and basic horticultural work for parks & beautification areas, including: clean-up and disposal of trash & debris, planting of flowers, minor pruning of shrubs & trees, weed eating/pulling & minor spraying, watering, janitorial, etc.
• May be responsible for driving a City vehicle to various park & beautification area sites throughout the City, as assigned.

Acceptable Experience, Training, Licenses And/Or Certifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older;
• A high school diploma or GED preferred;
• Two (2) to five (5) years of experience may be required;
• Specialized certifications, construction and/or supervisory experience may be required;
• An Idaho Driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders, working at heights, and in confined spaces;
• Hand/finger dexterity to handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms;
• Operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle;
• Lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds with assistance;
• Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public.
