General Summary
Addison Oaks is located 9 miles north of Rochester and 7 miles east of Oxford. We are hiring Contact Station staff to work July – end of October. These part-time positions are limited to 1,000 hours per year with flexible scheduling. Applicants must be available to work weekends and evenings through the end of October.
Compensation
$14.55 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Pass the employment physical established for this classification.
- May be required to provide safety shoes.
- If assigned to a youth recreational program, prior to employment, candidates will be required to provide Parks & Recreation with documentation from the Michigan Department of Human Services (previously called Family Independence Agency) that they have not been named in a central registry case as the perpetrator of child abuse or child neglect.
- Applicants for positions at Parks & Recreation will not be considered if they have been convicted of either of the following: (a) Child Abuse or Neglect. (b) A felony involving harm or threatened harm to an individual within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of hire.
Essential Job Functions
- Waits on customers in a courteous manner, answering inquiries regarding charges for park facilities and services such as park passes, vehicle permits, boat, bike, golf cart rentals, waterslide and other water features, or merchandise.
- Processes transactions using a cash register or point of sale system, may require entry of customer demographic information, processing of credit cards, assessing promotions, gift cards, refunds, etc.
- Gives directions regarding emergency procedures, lost and found procedures, and handles complaints and other problems.
- Cleans rental and public use areas, empties trash cans, assists with cleaning in and around facilities as needed to promote a positive public image for Oakland County Parks.
- Answers public inquiries regarding County parks.
- May utilize current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Essential Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to communicate, and to perform numerical computations.
Working Conditions
Works in an outdoor environment with exposure to weather conditions.
When Assigned to a Campground
- Writes a camp permit for overnight campers obtaining and recording the name, address, license plate number, length of stay and whether the camper desires electricity.
- Receives fees from overnight campers and day users, gives receipts and records each transaction.
- Makes reservations in person and over the phone by processing customer information in a point of sale system.
