About the role

This position is responsible for coordinating daily bus operations by assigning, scheduling, and dispatching bus operations and vehicles for both fixed-route and demand-response services. The role oversees field operations through the use of communication equipment and direct on-site supervision to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transit services.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring operator availability
• Scheduling personnel to vehicles
• Communicating route adjustments
• Providing field supervision as needed
• Managing schedules and daily activities of 40-49 employees
• Interviewing, hiring, and training new route operators
• Recommending route modifications to the Director, Manager, or Assistant Manager
• Responding to customer concerns promptly and professionally
• Maintaining accurate weekly ridership records

Requirements

• A personal cell phone for work-related communication
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Lift up to 60 pounds
• Meet the requirements of a safety-sensitive position

Qualifications

• High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
• Four years of supervisory experience

Skills, Proficiencies, And/or Knowledge

• Ability to operate a personal computer
• Communication via two-way radio
• Use Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of the operational characteristics of passenger buses
• Knowledge of the city’s arterial and secondary road network
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Knowledge of transit operations
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
