Job Description
Oversee all on-campus and off-campus parking operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused services.
- Supervise daily parking activities including self-parking, valet operations, employee parking, visitor parking, physician parking, special event parking, and designated parking programs.
- Develop and implement operational plans that maximize parking capacity and utilization while minimizing congestion and customer inconvenience.
- Maintain parking facilities to ensure they remain safe, clean, accessible, and compliant with ADA requirements and Medical Center standards.
- Evaluate operational workflows and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Investigate parking-related incidents, complaints, accidents, and operational disruptions.
- Collaborate with clinical departments to support transportation services for patients with special needs and mobility limitations.
- Oversee transportation and shuttle operations supporting patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and Medical Center affiliates.
- Ensure transportation services operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established service standards.
- Monitor transportation schedules, route performance, wait times, and service delivery metrics.
- Develop operational improvements that enhance transportation accessibility and reduce delays.
- Conduct transportation needs assessments and recommend service modifications based on organizational demand.
- Provide direct operational oversight of valet parking programs and contracted valet vendors.
- Ensure valet operations reflect Mount Sinai Medical Center's commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of parking technologies including SKIDATA, Fast Lane, License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems, automated gates, pay stations, ticket dispensers, validation systems, loop detectors, and access control technologies.
- Oversee system functionality, configuration, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and operational performance.
- Coordinate software upgrades, database management, network connectivity, cybersecurity compliance, and technology enhancements with Information Technology and vendor partners.
- Maintain revenue integrity and ensure accurate operation of automated parking systems.
- Supervise transportation personnel, parking staff, valet coordinators, and assigned Public Safety personnel.
- Assign staff to designated routes, facilities, operational zones, and special assignments.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate workloads to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and performance improvement discussions.
- Participate in employee recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications, competencies, and training requirements.
- Review and approve employee time records, attendance documentation, and payroll submissions.
- Prepare revenue and expense reports for parking and transportation operations.
- Maintain operational expenditures and financial performance.
- Review and approve purchases, contracts, and departmental expenditures.
- Conduct audits of parking revenue collection systems and operational controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, maximize revenue capture, and reduce costs.
- Promote a culture of exceptional customer service throughout all parking and transportation operations.
- Respond to and resolve escalated customer concerns, complaints, and service recovery situations.
- Develop customer service standards, training programs, and performance expectations for staff and contracted vendors.
- Implement initiatives that reduce patient and visitor stress while improving accessibility and convenience.
- Coach employees and vendors on effective communication, hospitality principles, and service excellence.
- Champion Mount Sinai Medical Center's Just Culture philosophy by promoting accountability, transparency, and continuous learning.
- Investigate incidents and develop corrective actions focused on system improvement and risk reduction.
- Support proactive identification and mitigation of parking, transportation, and pedestrian safety risks.
- Collaborate with Risk Management, Patient Safety, Facilities, and Clinical Leadership to improve organizational safety outcomes.
- Promote the CMS Culture of Safety by ensuring parking and transportation operations support a safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, employees, and contractors.
- Utilize Six-Sigma methodologies and DMAIC principles to improve operational performance.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to reduce shuttle wait times, improve valet retrieval performance, optimize parking utilization, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Establish performance metrics and dashboards to measure operational success.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that support organizational goals and operational excellence.
- Support Medical Center emergency management and business continuity initiatives.
- Coordinate parking and transportation resources during emergencies, disasters, evacuations, and special events.
- Conduct safety inspections and operational risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, vehicle incidents, and transportation-related complaints.
- Ensure compliance with CMS, OSHA, ADA, Joint Commission, state, federal, and local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation required for audits, inspections, legal proceedings, and regulatory reviews.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Public Safety, Facilities Management, Clinical Operations, Patient Experience, Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, and external transportation partners.
- Represent Mount Sinai Medical Center at meetings with transportation vendors, municipal agencies, healthcare partners, and professional organizations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop solutions that improve access, transportation efficiency, and customer experience.
- Aid leadership with operational reporting, presentations, and strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications
- Valid Florida Driver's License with acceptable driving record required.
- Six-Sigma Green Belt, Yellow Belt, Certified Parking Professional (CPP), IAHSS Certification, or related professional certification preferred.
- CPR/AED Certification preferred.
- Associate’s degree required.
- 4 years of experience in parking operations, transportation management, healthcare operations, municipal parking systems, public safety operations, logistics, or related field.
- 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Experience managing contracted vendors and transportation service providers required.
- Experience administering Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS) preferred.
