Park Maintenance Technician I

Responsibilities

• Performs unskilled or semi-skilled labor in any or all of the areas of grounds maintenance, facility or equipment maintenance, and construction, including turf and irrigation maintenance, horticulture activities, minor construction, facility cleaning, and trash collection.
• Operates light and heavy equipment and vehicles such as riding mower, skid-steer, and tractor.
• Performs routine inventory, routine preventative maintenance, and cleaning of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Collaborates with seasonal staff and/or volunteers performing related work.
• Drives County vehicles and other equipment to perform assigned duties; operates all County vehicles and equipment in accordance with County guidelines.
• Supports departmental activities for special events and other activities.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance, hand and power tools, painting, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs.
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments in a safe and proper manner.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with County staff and the public.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work in all types of weather.
• Ability to safely operate light and heavy equipment.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• One year of professional experience in grounds maintenance or related field preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Skills

• Knowledge of safety procedures and precautions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to operate light and heavy equipment.

Benefits

The anticipated work schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm, subject to change. Please be advised this position may close without advance notice should we receive a sufficient number of qualified applications.

Pay

Hiring Range: $44,500.00 - $48,000.00 annually
