Park & Facility General Maintenance - Atwood

Essential Functions

• Establish and maintain a high level of citizen confidence.
• Demonstrate the principles of One Team, One Goal in daily interactions with staff and guests.
• Ensure a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging exists in all areas of the Park District.
• Provide a safe and comfortable environment for Rockford Park District employees, customers.
• Sets up tables and chairs for weekend rentals ensuring furniture and rooms are clean prior to and after rentals.
• Acts as weekend rental and Saturday Public hours host.
• Performs simple maintenance duties to the buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment according to required specifications for safety and appearance.
• Performs frequent routine safety checks on buildings, grounds, and equipment; files safety reports as required.
• Performs routine cleaning of building, floors, windows, restrooms, carpets, trash removal, grounds, sidewalks, trash pick-up and snow removal.
• Ensures that all work performed is conducted in a safe and timely manner adhering to standards of cleanliness and effective equipment utilization.
• Performs simple repairs to buildings, equipment, machinery, and vehicles as assigned according to Park District general maintenance procedures.
• Follows preventive maintenance schedule and performs simple preventive maintenance to equipment as assigned.
• Effectively and safely operates Park District equipment including vehicles and mowers as required.
• Effectively and safely operates trimmers, mowers, saws, drills and other hand tools as required.
• Responsible for the opening and closing of the facilities.
• Assists with delivery of supplies to various facilities.
• Provides quality customer service to all patrons, guests, and other District employees.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to provide customers with expert care, sensitive consideration and efficient service.
• Good communication skills including expressive, written, and receptive.
• Basic understanding of custodial and maintenance duties.
• Available on Saturdays and Sundays.
• Ability to follow direction from Maintenance Supervisor.
• Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (can be obtained through the Rockford Park District).
• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

• Very Heavy Work Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently.
• Exerting in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Moderately physically intensive tasks, potentially including any combination of the following: climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Far, near, and mid-range vision.
• Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals (training on working with said chemicals will be provided).
• Exposure to dirt.
• Exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and equipment hazards.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
