Park Maintenance

Job Summary

Assists with the maintenance of buildings and grounds throughout the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD).

Employee is responsible for safe, efficient operation of equipment and tools while following established work and safety procedures.

Essential Functions

• Cleaning restrooms, rental facilities, and picnic shelters.
• Grounds maintenance duties including push mowing, weed whipping, litter pickup, painting, pesticide application, landscaping, and other duties as assigned.
• Alert supervisor about maintenance issues, safety concerns, current work assignment progress, and when visitors are not in compliance with park rules.
• Responsible for the safe operation of all equipment.
• May be responsible for performing skilled assignments; all seasonal staff are expected to take direction from designated supervisors.
• Absent without prior approval by the supervisor.
• Responsible for personal neatness, attire, and communicating repair needs.
• May be asked to perform a variety of tasks that range from skilled to unskilled work.

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily outdoors and requires working under extreme conditions.
• Employee is expected to wear clean full-length pants that are not tattered or torn and wear job appropriate footwear.
• BPRD provides T-shirts, caps and any safety gear that is required to complete assigned tasks.
• Normal work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, however hours will vary depending on need and the weather.
• Employee will be required to work weekends when scheduled.
