Essential Functions
- Picks up litter; empty waste receptacles; sweep and/or blow walkways and parking lots.
- Digs ditches, holes and trenches and assists in installing and repairing irrigation systems under the direction of regular staff.
- Weed and cultivate landscaped areas; water plants and lawns.
- Operates, cleans, and carries hand and power tools.
- Cleans work areas and clears brush.
- Performs routine maintenance on City vehicles.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the use and operation of hand and power tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Required Physical Traits
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects at least 80 lbs.
- Ability to; climbing, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, reaching, crouching, turning/twisting, pushing and pulling, reaching overhead and above the shoulders, standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to speak and hear to exchange information.
- Manual dexterity to operate small power equipment and hand tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of hand tools.
- Knowledge of construction techniques.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Prior experience in construction or landscaping is preferred.
