Summary
The person in this position will fill all basketball program needs and will assist with other programs as directed by their management. The nature of the task and responsibilities will change to some degree based upon the program they are assisting in; but their character and attitude must always promote the Christian faith and be in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise facilities for programs and rentals.
- Monitor facilities, special events, classes, field trips and various programs (SK2, Summer Camps, Corps programs).
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for participants.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed for sports programs.
- Work with Recreation and Fitness Manager and Soccer Specialist.
- Act as on-site coordinator in case of issues with program members, parents, or opposite teams.
- Get players and spectators off the field if the Lightning alarm goes off.
- Enforce rules and regulations.
- Referee coordination, field/court set up and organization.
- Volunteer management (scorekeepers).
- Perform maintenance tasks.
- Set up and tear down of all equipment.
- Properly set up corner flags, benches, water, first aid supplies, and pickleball courts.
- Cleanliness and stock of all paper towels and toilet paper.
- Ensure the timeliness of the fields and courts.
- Record all match results and keep track of stats.
- Enforce rules and regulations.
- Arbitrate disputes.
- Officiate awards ceremonies.
- Tournament set-up and breakdown.
- Bracketing and team communication.
- Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Fitness and Recreation Management Team.
Qualifications
- A person of good character.
- Able to follow directions.
- Willing to work a variety of schedules as needed for programming.
- Able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Able to work well with others.
- If driving is part of their responsibilities, they must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a Salvation Army 12 passenger driving test.
