About the Role
Assist students with direct care and daily living activities to enhance their quality of life and support their ability to remain in a school setting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and compassionate attitude, serving as a role model.
- Collaborate with teachers to support student growth, behavior management, and classroom activities.
- Assist with instructional tasks, review assignments, and help with classroom housekeeping.
- Tend to personal needs, including hygiene, feeding, mobility, and medical condition monitoring, adhering to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Collect data, maintain documentation, and communicate confidentially with families and staff.
- Supervise students during transitions, outings, and therapy sessions, supporting related service providers as needed.
- Support student use of technology and adaptive devices, and ensure safety during physical tasks.
- Perform physical duties such as lifting, repositioning students, and responding to emergencies.
- Follow health and safety protocols, including vaccinations and infection control measures.
- Other duties as assigned to meet student and classroom needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills.
- Relevant state certifications.
- Physical ability to perform lifting, movement, and operate equipment safely.
- Capacity to work in diverse environments and respond to emergencies effectively.
Skills
- Excellent communication and attentiveness.
- Adherence to confidentiality.
- Prefer pediatric and adult experience.
