About the role
We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team in a K-12 alternative certification program. This role supports non-traditional certification pathways for aspiring teachers, helping them meet Michigan’s certification requirements while gaining hands-on classroom experience.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and coach candidates through the alternative certification process, including classroom observations and feedback.
- Collaborate with school districts, universities, and state agencies to ensure program compliance and effectiveness.
- Assist candidates in developing instructional strategies, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques.
- Monitor candidate progress toward certification, including documentation and reporting requirements.
- Facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for candidates.
- Serve as a liaison between candidates, school administrators, and certification officials.
Requirements
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
- Experience with alternative certification programs, mentoring, or teacher preparation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Michigan’s teacher certification standards and processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel to school sites within the assigned region.
