About the role
The paramedic functions under the medical direction of the Medical Director and/or supervising ED attending with general supervision of the RN. Provides care for patients in accordance with physician's orders, policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. Delivers direct and indirect patient care while adhering to the mission and objectives of the hospital to meet the healthcare needs of patients and families.
The paramedic will collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report all clinical, psychosocial, and other findings to the RN and ED Physician.
Schedule
Full-time, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care in accordance with physician's orders, policies, procedures, and established standards.
- Collect and report clinical and psychosocial data to the RN and ED Physician.
Requirements
Education
- Required: GED or High School Diploma.
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree (e.g., Allied Health Science, EMS, etc.).
Licensure/Certifications
- Current State of Florida Paramedic License.
- BLS Health Care Provider (American Heart Association).
- ACLS (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire.
- PALS within 6 months of hire.
- NRP within 6 months of hire.
Experience
- Required: Less than one year as a paramedic.
- Preferred: 1–2 years paramedic experience in a hospital setting, previous EMS Dispatch experience, and/or 2 years ED patient care including triage experience.
