Responsibilities
- Respond to all assigned calls in the most appropriate and efficient manner.
- Provide high standards of patient care while ensuring a safe and hazard-free environment.
- Contribute to overall patient care in areas of patient assessment, treatment, packaging, and transport.
- Interact internally with the facility and externally with patients, families, first response agencies, health-care providers, physicians, and hospital personnel.
- Take an active role in outreach educational initiatives, including outreach education to EMS and education and resource performance improvement for Trauma Service Area agencies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate of Science Degree preferred.
- Florida Paramedic License.
- BLS from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS from the American Heart Association.
- PALS from the American Heart Association.
- Within 6 months of hire or transfer, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) audit.
- Completion of an Air Medical Crew Core Curriculum course in accordance with Florida Administrative Code.
- Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
- Ability to learn and adapt to new equipment.
- Ability to work in highly stressful situations.
- Work in conjunction with other agencies during emergency scenes.
- Customer relations and organizational skills are essential.
- Adhere to Hospital Policy and Florida Department of Emergency Medical Services guidelines.
- Familiarity with Advanced Life Support patient care equipment.
- Education/Instruction of EMS agencies throughout the Trauma Service Area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and neurological systems.
