Paramedic Critical Care | UF Health Flight Services | 24hrs. shift | Part-time (benefits eligible)

About the role

The Critical Care Flight Paramedic (CCFP) is accountable for responding to all assigned calls efficiently, providing high standards of patient care while ensuring a safe environment. This role contributes to overall patient care through assessment, treatment, packaging, and transport, and interacts with internal teams, patients, families, first response agencies, healthcare providers, physicians, and hospital personnel. As part of an academic flight program, the CCFP actively participates in outreach educational initiatives for EMS and Trauma Service Area agencies.

Responsibilities

• Organize, direct, and implement patient care in emergency/critical care environments with appropriate documentation.
• Participate in educational outreach initiatives and Quality Improvement activities.
• Maintain instructor ratings in specialty areas and meet annual physical agility requirements.
• Plan, provide, and document age-appropriate care based on patient assessment, including administering medications and intravenous solutions.
• Comply with hospital policies and procedures, including medication administration, advanced airway management, thoracostomy, transport ventilator use, and safe communication among caregivers.
• Communicate professionally with healthcare teams, external agencies, and serve as a patient advocate.
• Perform duties within job scope, adhere to dress code, policies, and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Demonstrate knowledge of regulatory agency standards and incorporate them into daily practice.
• Participate in ongoing education for professional development.
• Demonstrate clinical skill in patient care management, including knowledge of pathophysiology related to cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and neurological systems.
• Meet physical requirements, including weight, height, and vision specifications for aircraft safety, and ability to lift, push, or pull 250+ pounds with assistance.
• Maintain recurrent annual aviation training as required by Federal Aviation Administration Part 135 and air operator license.
• Provide leadership and incident command at emergency scenes in conjunction with other agencies.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate of Science Degree preferred.
• Required Licensure/Certifications:
  • Florida Paramedic License
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) audit (within 6 months of hire)
  • Completion of an Air Medical Crew Core Curriculum course (per Florida Administrative Code)
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
• Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
  • National Registry Paramedic
  • ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC), or Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) Instructor certifications
• Experience: 3-5 years of field experience in an active Emergency Medical Service or hospital. Over 5 years of field experience in an active 911 Emergency Medical Service preferred.
