Paramedic Supervisor-York City

About the role

UPMC is hiring a Full-Time Paramedic Supervisor to support the station in York City. Hours are 6am-6pm, rotating holidays and weekends. Prefer someone with previous management experience. Must be a certified paramedic in PA.

Responsibilities

• Liaison to a variety of Public Safety entities, hospitals, nursing homes, and other customers as regards communication
• Foster and promote professionalism within Life Team
• Manages day to day emergency and non-emergency operations
• Maintain schedules for all staff members in York County to ensure adequate coverage
• Managing fleet operations for York County
• Overseeing narcotics
• Supervise emergency medical staff consisting of EMTs, Paramedics, and Drivers
• Provide both basic and advanced emergency medical services, care, and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport
• Reflects a positive attitude to the customer in a high stress environment at all times, with a clear understanding of who the customer is
• Participates in scheduled and unscheduled outreach activities, representing the UPMC system
• Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care; assessing online medical command or other resources when appropriate
• Participates in developing and completing research projects
• Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions
• Performs daily equipment check (vehicle, medications)
• Completes all official documentation in a timely manner such as payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.
• Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation
• Always ensures patient and family confidentiality and dignity
• Selects and uses personal protective equipment appropriate to the level of the anticipated hazard
• Completes all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year EMS pre-hospital experience at the advance life support provider level preferred
• Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required
• Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director
• Have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned
• Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom
• Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment

Licensure and Certifications

• North Central Pennsylvania and Central Pennsylvania allow for the Emergency Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Driver's License
• Emergency Vehicle Operator
• Paramedic
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
