About the role
UPMC is hiring a Full-Time Paramedic Supervisor to support the station in York City. Hours are 6am-6pm, rotating holidays and weekends. Prefer someone with previous management experience. Must be a certified paramedic in PA.
Responsibilities
- Liaison to a variety of Public Safety entities, hospitals, nursing homes, and other customers as regards communication
- Foster and promote professionalism within Life Team
- Manages day to day emergency and non-emergency operations
- Maintain schedules for all staff members in York County to ensure adequate coverage
- Managing fleet operations for York County
- Overseeing narcotics
- Supervise emergency medical staff consisting of EMTs, Paramedics, and Drivers
- Provide both basic and advanced emergency medical services, care, and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport
- Reflects a positive attitude to the customer in a high stress environment at all times, with a clear understanding of who the customer is
- Participates in scheduled and unscheduled outreach activities, representing the UPMC system
- Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care; assessing online medical command or other resources when appropriate
- Participates in developing and completing research projects
- Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions
- Performs daily equipment check (vehicle, medications)
- Completes all official documentation in a timely manner such as payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation
- Always ensures patient and family confidentiality and dignity
- Selects and uses personal protective equipment appropriate to the level of the anticipated hazard
- Completes all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year EMS pre-hospital experience at the advance life support provider level preferred
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required
- Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director
- Have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned
- Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom
- Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment
Licensure and Certifications
- North Central Pennsylvania and Central Pennsylvania allow for the Emergency Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Driver's License
- Emergency Vehicle Operator
- Paramedic
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
