About the role
Supervisors use advanced paramedic training and leadership skills to oversee emergency medical technicians, while maintaining a safe working environment. This job requires extensive medical knowledge and emergency services training, as well as a paramedic certification.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate all assigned employees.
- Participate in interviewing potential employees, and employee counseling.
- Maintain the staffing schedule for your shift or department.
- Monitor supplies needed for the department.
- Cook up required repairs and maintenance for equipment and vehicles in the department.
- Aid in training of new hires and the orientation process.
- Monitor safety procedures and protocols for the department.
- Aid in skill competencies and continuing education, as appropriate.
- Act as a liaison with local fire and police departments in the field.
- Aid in the QA process.
- Aid in annual recertification processes.
- Complete disciplinary documentation, as necessary.
- Fill in daily shift openings as well as assist with wheelchair and mental health trips, as necessary.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medical services, including a paramedic certification. They should also possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
