Paramedic Supervisor

About the role

Supervisors use advanced paramedic training and leadership skills to oversee emergency medical technicians, while maintaining a safe working environment. This job requires extensive medical knowledge and emergency services training, as well as a paramedic certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate all assigned employees.
• Participate in interviewing potential employees, and employee counseling.
• Maintain the staffing schedule for your shift or department.
• Monitor supplies needed for the department.
• Cook up required repairs and maintenance for equipment and vehicles in the department.
• Aid in training of new hires and the orientation process.
• Monitor safety procedures and protocols for the department.
• Aid in skill competencies and continuing education, as appropriate.
• Act as a liaison with local fire and police departments in the field.
• Aid in the QA process.
• Aid in annual recertification processes.
• Complete disciplinary documentation, as necessary.
• Fill in daily shift openings as well as assist with wheelchair and mental health trips, as necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medical services, including a paramedic certification. They should also possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
