About the Role

The Paramedic Field Supervisor is a licensed professional who assists the Ambulance Manager and Director of Emergency Services with the coordination and supervision of day-to-day ambulance service operations. This role requires collaboration with MedCom, a well-developed understanding of system-wide EMS operations, clinical skill and judgment, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The position also involves collaborating with sending and receiving facilities to support the interface between pre-hospital care and the hospitals served.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily ambulance service operations.
  • Collaborate with MedCom and healthcare facilities to ensure seamless pre-hospital and hospital care.
  • Demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, and sensitivity for patients and families in crisis.
  • Work effectively with peers, other departments, first responders, and the public using strong interpersonal skills.
  • Within six months of appointment, gain practical knowledge of ambulance billing, insurance guidelines, and MedCom functionality, including CAD systems, radio systems, and standardized response plans.

Requirements

  • Hazardous Materials training to the First Responder Operations Level (prior to the conclusion of department orientation).

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Currently licensed by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority as a Paramedic.
  • Accredited by the Sierra Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services to function as a Paramedic in the region.
  • Current CPR recognition.
  • Current ACLS recognition.
  • Current PALS or Handtevy Prehospital Pediatric Provider recognition (within 6 months of hire).
  • Current AMLS (within 6 months of hire; current Enloe employees have until 9/1/2024 to obtain).
  • PHTLS within 6 months of hire.
  • EVOC within 6 months of hire.
  • California driver’s license with ambulance driver’s certificate, including medical exam certificate.
  • Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with a DMV report (minimum age 21).

Desired

  • Five years’ experience in the pre-hospital setting.
  • Leadership and preceptor experience.
  • Associate’s degree in a health-related field.

Skills

Certifications to Obtain (Post-Hire)

  • Within 6 months of hire:
    • PALS or Handtevy Prehospital Pediatric Provider.
    • AMLS (current Enloe employees have until 9/1/2024).
    • PHTLS.
    • EVOC.
    • ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, ICS 700, and ICS 800 (current Enloe employees have until 2/29/2024).
  • Within 12 months of hire:
    • Course instructor certification for at least one of the following: CPR, ACLS, AMLS, PHTLS, Handtevy, PALS, or Stop the Bleed (current Enloe employees have until 9/1/2024).
  • Within 24 months of hire:
    • S-330 Strike Team and Task Force Leader.
    • S-339 Division and Group Supervisor.
    • R-150 Management of EMS.
    • R-151 Advanced Leadership Issues in EMS.
    • NAEMD Certification.

Schedule

  • Shift: Varied.
  • Shift length: 12 hours.
  • Days off: Variable.
  • Hours per pay period: 72.
