Paramedic – Emergency Department
About the role
The Main Campus Emergency Department sees over 61,000 adult and pediatric patients annually, providing a critical link between necessary healthcare and our community, the region and the world (through Cleveland Clinic Critical Care Transport).
Responsibilities
- Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
- Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
- Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
- Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
- Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
- Auxiliary with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
- Auxiliary with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
- Transport patients and specimens.
- Auxiliary with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
- Perform fluid/drug administration.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
- Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department
- Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program
Qualifications
- One year of experience as an EMT-P
- Experience in a high volume emergency room/hospital setting

Pay
Minimum hourly: $22.00 Maximum hourly: $32.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
