About the role
This is responsible technical work involving the protection of life through the performance of emergency medical and rescue services.
Responsibilities
- Perform emergency medical and rescue services
- Exert physical effort in light to strenuous work, which may involve some standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects and materials, crawling, stooping, squatting, digging, or bending
- Must possess a valid license as a credentialed Paramedic in the state of residence and must be eligible for reciprocity from the State of Alabama Division of Emergency Medical Services
- Must possess current Board Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
- Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
- Must obtain certification as a Firefighter in the State of Alabama within one year of employment
- Must pass a Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) within 12 months prior to Firefighter training and pass the NFPA 1582 physical examination prior to employment
Requirements
- Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and completion of emergency medical technician paramedic coursework; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements
