Key Responsibilities
- Assist with managing and organizing materials and information related to the tax aspects of matters, transactions, and tax controversies.
- Conduct research on ERISA, IRC, DOL and other related issues as requested by attorneys.
- Prepare, manage, and review materials for government filings.
- Update and maintain inventories of documents, filings, communications and records related to matters, cases, transactions, or plans.
- Assist Estate Planning and Administration attorneys with assembling and filing relevant plans, ancillary documents, client communications and tax forms.
- Aid in preparing tax exemption filings, including pre-screening, application submissions and tax exempt status requests.
- Conduct legal research and analyze tax requirements related to specific practice areas.
- Review and index document production.
- Organize and compile client-related documentation.
- Review and summarize depositions and hearing transcripts.
- Review, index and summarize FOIA production from IRS and other agencies.
- Prepare various IRS and state-level forms.
- Assist with preparing trial exhibits.
- Assist with drafting correspondence and court filings.
- Maintain client-related electronic files.
- Schedule conferences, client-related meetings, court appearances and deadlines.
Job Requirements
- Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree with a major in paralegal studies, or
- A Bachelor’s degree with an unrelated major, and have:
- A certificate from an ABA approved paralegal training program specializing in the area for which the candidate is being considered;
- Two years’ experience in the area of specialization for which the candidate is being considered or other comparable experience;
- Unique qualifications, experience, or training which fill a specific need within FBT Gibbons.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal or in other legal/tax services roles.
- Proficient computer skills using MS Office applications.
- Strong research skills.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in preparing and reviewing documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with set goals and achieve them.
- Ability to analyze situations and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and with time constraints.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
