Responsibilities

• Helps organize and prepare research material and determine information pertinent to the case.
• Drafts legal documents identifying legal or factual issues, locating precedents, and developing legally supportable conclusions.
• Aids Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in court during hearings and trials.
• Assists in pre-trial witness conferences, noting deficiencies in case materials and additional issues requiring investigation.
• Determines which statutes, regulations, cases, procedures, and policies need to be researched and assembled, preparing initial summaries and recommendations.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Initial appointment is conditioned on a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks, and drug testing.
• Continued employment is subject to a favorable background investigation.
• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• May be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
• Must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

• GS-09: Specialized experience, education, or a combination thereof.
• GS-11: Specialized experience, education, or a combination thereof.
