Paralegal/Fiduciary Accountant

Responsibilities
- Prepares and files Federal and state estate tax and gift tax returns
- Prepares and files Federal and state fiduciary income tax returns
- Prepares estate and trust accountings
- Prepares informational returns for tax exempt entities
- Estate and gift tax planning (actuarial and interest computations i.e., QPRTs, GRATs, CRATs and CLUTs)
- Maintains and updates estate and trust accounts and records (tax information)
- Responds to IRS and state tax agency audit inquiries
- Affords assistance with estate administration tasks as needed, including probate filings, inventories, assist with collecting assets and distributing to beneficiaries
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License or Enrolled Agent designation a plus
- 3+ years of experience working in a trust and estate practice at a law firm, CPA firm, or bank
- Bachelor’s Degree or paralegal certificate strongly desired
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task, while working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to establish good rapport with attorneys, clients, and other staff
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License or Enrolled Agent designation
- 3+ years of experience working in a trust and estate practice at a law firm, CPA firm, or bank
- Bachelor’s Degree or paralegal certificate
Skills
- Strong knowledge of fiduciary accounting principles
- Proficiency in preparing and filing tax returns
- Experience with estate and trust administration
- Ability to handle complex tax planning and computations
