WEX is seeking a self-driven and motivated individual to join our Commercial Legal team as a Commercial Paralegal, supporting the commercial and transactional work of WEX’s Corporate Payments line of business in the Americas. This remote role is open to candidates in Portland, ME; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Washington D.C.; Chicago, IL; or Dallas, TX.
About the role
As a new member of the team, you will utilize and enhance your subject matter experience in commercial contracts and transactional matters, particularly customer and revenue-generating agreements.
Responsibilities
- Draft and revise commercial contracts (NDAs, customer contracts, credit agreements, program agreements, referral agreements, technology services agreements, service level agreements, and non-disclosure agreements) accurately and in compliance with all WEX policies and risk framework.
- Review customer-requested changes to contracts, collaborate with Corporate Payments attorneys and stakeholders for feedback/approvals, and revise documents accordingly.
- Assist attorneys with the preparation, review, and execution of transaction documents, forms, and filings for the Corporate Payments line of business in the Americas.
- Assist in migrating legacy contracts to the company’s new contract lifecycle management system (Malbek).
- Drive contracts from intake through workflow routing, version control, execution, and post-signing tasks using the contract lifecycle management system, including:
- Obtaining all relevant information.
- Creating and redlining contracts.
- Routing contracts for internal review and approvals.
- Sending contracts for signatures.
- Updating the contract record as needed.
- Manage legal matter workflow, including handling the legal request queue in the workload/matter management system (Xakia), interfacing with internal stakeholders, and completing administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with other support functions, including Finance, Compliance, and Risk.
- Assist with strategic projects as necessary.
- Utilize excellent written and verbal communication skills and exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making.
Requirements
- Paralegal degree or certification, or bachelor's degree in Finance or Business.
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited paralegal program, B.A. or B.S. degree, or Juris Doctorate.
- 5+ years of paralegal or equivalent experience with commercial contracts and transactional matters, including drafting, generating agreements, redlining, and reviewing contract revisions.
- Experience with legal technologies (matter management and contract lifecycle management systems) strongly preferred.
- Experience with all aspects of contract lifecycle management is highly preferred.
- Previous in-house experience supporting a line of business on the customer side.
- Demonstrated ability to learn IT applications and systems.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills to manage a heavy workload independently.
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Collaborative, flexible, adaptable, and able to work across functions in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and DocuSign.
Pay
Base pay range: $38.70 - $49.30 per hour.
