Job Responsibilities
- Researches legal issues and relevant topics that range in complexity and relate to Walgreens business operations
- Drafts legal documents under managing paralegal or attorney supervision
- Organizes and maintains department databases and files on a variety of legal subjects
- Works directly with managing paralegal or attorney to analyze legal issues, identify applicable laws and gather pertinent facts, and resolve legal questions
- If applicable, assists with litigation support, responding to discovery requests, document collection, responding to subpoenas, and/or contract support and management
About the Role
The Paralegal – Contracts supports Walgreens’ Commercial Transactions Legal Team by preparing, reviewing, and managing a wide range of commercial agreements that enable our merchandising and procurement operations. This role works closely with attorneys and business partners to draft agreements using established templates, coordinate contract workflows, manage revisions, and ensure timely execution.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher with a paralegal certificate OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of legal experience (assisting legal document preparation, routine legal research, and data compilation in litigation, real estate, contracting)
- Experience drafting legal documents
- Experience researching complex legal issues
- Experience using legal research tools, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw
- Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets)
- Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions)
- Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, increasing list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show)
- Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)
