Paralegal

Location: Long Island, NY (On-Site) | Compensation: $35/hour | Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Temporary with Potential for Permanent Hire

About The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to join its growing legal team in Long Island, NY. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for a candidate with direct removal defense experience who is looking to join a collaborative practice dedicated to serving individuals and families navigating the immigration process. The position is fully on-site and offers the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Draft and file removal defense applications, motions, and supporting documentation with EOIR and USCIS.
• Prepare attorneys and clients for immigration hearings, including bond hearings, master calendar hearings, and individual merits hearings.
• Manage client intake and maintain ongoing communication throughout the removal defense process.
• Collect, organize, and review supporting documentation for immigration filings.
• Communicate with clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel regarding case status and next steps.
• Maintain accurate case files and track deadlines using immigration case management software.
• Work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys to ensure timely and effective case management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of direct removal defense immigration paralegal experience.
• Experience preparing filings for EOIR and USCIS.
• Strong understanding of immigration court procedures and removal defense case workflows.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Docketwise is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently while supporting attorneys on complex immigration matters.

Candidates with experience handling humanitarian-based immigration matters, family-based immigration cases, and green card applications are highly encouraged to apply.
