About the role
This is a hybrid position based out of our Des Moines, IA office. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the administration and coordination of corporate legal matters, conducting legal research, preparing and maintaining legal documents, supporting intellectual property filings, managing contract administration processes, and providing administrative support to the legal team. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing multiple priorities, exercising sound judgment, maintaining strict confidentiality, and working effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support the Legal Department by managing intellectual property filings, legal research, contract administration, corporate compliance filings, and document management processes.
- Draft, review, revise, and maintain legal agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents under the direction of counsel.
- Track legal deadlines, maintain departmental calendars and task lists, and help ensure timely completion of filings, renewals, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments, outside service providers, and legal counsel to support ongoing legal and business initiatives.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic legal records and provide administrative and clerical support to the Legal Department.
- Develop and document procedures and workflows while assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate legal department, law firm, or related environment.
- Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designation or Paralegal Certification from an accredited program required.
- Demonstrated ability to independently review, draft, and revise contracts and legal agreements with limited supervision.
- Experience with legal document management, contract lifecycle management (CLM), and docketing systems preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
