Responsibilities
- Review assignments of documents, request supporting documentation from the client, and obtain verification of service or other documents from third parties.
- Identify facts, enter data into case management systems, and notate files with applicable information.
- Organize medical records, billing records, correspondence, and litigation documents.
- Track court and statute of limitations deadlines to meet all key milestones and alert attorneys of upcoming priorities.
- Analyze case documentation and assist in the preparation of motions, briefs, and other court documents.
- e-File documents with the applicable courts and file the court-stamped documents in the respective matter files, as well as provide notices to attorneys and paralegals.
- Partner with attorneys and leadership on procedural updates related to court rules, client guidelines, and internal controls.
- Perform other administrative and practice support duties as assigned to meet firm needs.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a litigation environment.
- Insurance defense experience is preferred, but not required.
- Paralegal certification preferred, but not required.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Capable of working across multiple files and software systems to achieve results.
- Proactive problem solving with demonstrated willingness to ask questions to understand processes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Caret Legal (or other case management software), NetDocuments (or similar document management systems).
- Prior experience working in fast-paced or high-volume environments.
- Ability to pass applicable background and reference checks.
- Willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
