Paralegal

About the role

Cage & Miles is a family law firm in Southern California known for its dedication to providing compassionate and effective legal representation. We are currently seeking a Paralegal to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Track case progress from “start to finish” ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met
• Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests/responses, financial disclosures, and client declarations
• Maintain attorney calendars: hearings, meetings, deadlines, discovery, and case milestones
• Analyze, review, and organize discovery materials
• Maintain thorough knowledge of San Diego County local rules and statewide rules of court
• Communicate with clients proactively regarding their case
• Review of financial documents
• Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas or service of documents
• Delegate administrative tasks to legal assistants as available while ensuring all work is completed
• Perform all Legal Secretary duties but may delegate tasks as available
• Support attorneys with special projects and additional assignments as needed

Requirements

• Paralegal Certificate required, bachelor's degree a plus
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Paralegal in family law in San Diego County required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience supporting a firm partner or CFLS preferred
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities
• High attention to detail; ability to follow complex instructions accurately
• Resourceful, proactive, and experienced with managing multiple deadlines
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office software

Additional Information

This role can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-person at our Mission Valley office, Monday - Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm. If you do not have experience in San Diego County, your application will not be considered. The anticipated compensation for this role is $40 - $50 per hour, but ultimately will depend on experience.
