This position is open for currently employed Shelton Public Schools paraeducators and members of Local 1303-196 of Council #4 (AFSCME).
About the role
The PARAEDUCATOR will provide support services to students in the Elizabeth Shelton School under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with daily activities
- Support classroom management
- Provide academic assistance
- Supervise students during breaks and transitions
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license
- Pass a background check
Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices
- Ability to use assistive technology

Pay
The salary range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is typically 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
