Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students at an assigned school site; prepare instructional materials and perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, and maintaining routine records.
- Print and write legibly.
- Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Monitor and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures.
- Operate a computer and various instructional and office equipment.
- Conform to and support the assigned teacher's style of classroom management.
- Communicate effectively with children and adults both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Responsible experience working with young children in an organized setting.

- Proficiency Exam Certificate (Basic Skills Assessment Test) OR Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or Higher Education Degree
- If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted.
- Compliance with SB 792 requirements for positions in licensed day care centers.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Basic child guidance principles and practices.
- Basic subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading.
- Safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Reading and writing communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Operation of a computer and assigned software.
Ability to:
- Learn the procedures, functions, and limitations of assigned duties.
- Communicate effectively with children and adults.

- The Proficiency Exam (Basic Skills Assessment Test) is administered by Lodi Unified School District. Interested candidates need to RSVP by calling 209-331-7605.
- A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
