Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students at an assigned school site; prepare instructional materials and perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, and maintaining routine records.
  • Print and write legibly.
  • Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Monitor and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Operate a computer and various instructional and office equipment.
  • Conform to and support the assigned teacher's style of classroom management.
  • Communicate effectively with children and adults both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Responsible experience working with young children in an organized setting.
  • Attach the following documents to your application:

    • Proficiency Exam Certificate (Basic Skills Assessment Test) OR Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or Higher Education Degree
  • If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted.
  • Compliance with SB 792 requirements for positions in licensed day care centers.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Basic child guidance principles and practices.
  • Basic subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading.
  • Safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Reading and writing communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Record-keeping techniques.
  • Operation of a computer and assigned software.

Ability to:

  • Learn the procedures, functions, and limitations of assigned duties.
  • Communicate effectively with children and adults.

  • The Proficiency Exam (Basic Skills Assessment Test) is administered by Lodi Unified School District. Interested candidates need to RSVP by calling 209-331-7605.
  • A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
