About the role

Kent School District offers a Contract Type: Continuing position with Hours: 2hrs/day on a Calendar: 189 Day KAP Calendar schedule. The Hourly Salary range is Min: $29.43 to Max: $36.18, based on the Kent AP Salary Schedule Step placement based on verified years of experience in an educational unit.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom teachers in implementing curriculum and providing a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students as needed.
  • Assist with the management of student behavior and classroom discipline.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Prior to starting, candidates must meet the minimum employment requirements for paraeducators in the State of Washington through one of the following means:
  • Associate (AA) degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • 72 college level credits from an accredited institution.
  • A score of 455 or higher on the ETS ParaPro Assessment and proof of high school completion or equivalent.

If you do not yet meet one of these qualifications and are willing to take the ParaPro Assessment, you can still apply. If you are the chosen finalist candidate, you will have the opportunity to take the test prior to being formally hired into the role.

Post Hire Requirements

  • Paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through our KSD Professional Development Team upon hire.
