About the role

The Paraeducator (Special Education) position is responsible for providing support to students with special education needs, including those with health impairments or social/emotional behavior disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with individualized plans to improve their academic and behavioral outcomes.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement behavior intervention plans and functional behavior assessments.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills in supporting students with special needs.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.

  • Positive attitude and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and prioritize tasks.

Salary schedule: 6.75 hours/day, 195 days/year.
