About the role

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavioral issues in a classroom. Provide direct instruction, monitor, and report student progress regarding behavior and performance. Assist students in developing various self-help, behavior, social and community skills.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher, at least 48 college semester units, or pass the (ESSA) Every Student Succeeds Act exam.
  • Possession of SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Certificate or other qualifying document.
  • Complete approved SCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintain valid certification.

Benefits

A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
