Responsibilities

• Aid a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavioral issues in a classroom.
• Provide direct instruction, monitor, and report student progress regarding behavior and performance.
• Absorb students in developing various self-help, behavior, social and community skills.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and at least two years experience, paid or voluntary, working with children/individuals with disabilities;
• One of the following: possession of an Associate’s degree or higher, at least 48 college semester units or pass the (ESSA) Every Student Succeeds Act exam.
• Certificate Required: This position requires the SCOE Para Proficiency certificate OR one of the following: NCLB/ESSA certificate, CBEST, or transcripts showing minimum 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded.

Benefits

A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day. Meeting the minimum qualifications for a position does not assure the candidate of an interview.
