About the role
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

Requirements
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in working with children or individuals with disabilities
- SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test certificate, or substitute:
- NCLB/ESSA Test certificate from Stanislaus County
- CBEST
- Transcripts showing minimum of 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher level degree was awarded (unofficial transcripts accepted)
The following are NOT required at the time of application but will be required if offered employment:
- DOJ Fingerprint clearance
- TB Clearance
- Lift Test/Drug Screen clearance
Pay
$22.40 – $27.44 per hour. Initial salary placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 3 ($24.95) for external candidates. Salary is pursuant to CSEA Classified Regular Salary Schedule, Range 7.
Schedule
Part-time, 6 hours per day, 181 days/10 months.
Benefits
A benefit entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
