Panel Shop Foreman- Evansville

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct the daily shop work of the Panel Shop.
• Assist Controls Technicians and Fabricators with work.
• Communicate clearly and concisely while providing directions to employees.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available and in good working condition in order to work efficiently and effectively.
• Train Controls Technicians and Fabricators in various department positions.
• Act as the Coordinator in his/her absence.
• Afford performance feedback to Coordinator.
• Conduct performance corrective counseling in consultation with the department Coordinator and/or Human Resources as needed.
• Manage employees in the absence of the Coordinator.
• Foster good employee/management relations.
• Promote teamwork by exhibiting positive teamwork with employees.

Controls

• Assemble complex and/or prototype control panels.
• Read and interpret electrical layout drawings and diagrams to determine appropriate panel layout and wire placement.
• Lay out enclosures, back panels, and components per drawings.
• Work with Engineer and Designer to correct issues with layouts and suggest improvements.
• Assemble and mount components to enclosure and back panels after approval.
• Print wire labels and create and engrave panel tags.
• Install and wire complex controls per detailed electrical instructions/drawings/schematics.
• Perform continuity and function tests of complex control panels to verify wiring.
• Work with Engineer Designer to correct issues that arise.
• Prepare finished assemblies for shipment including wrapping, packaging, and strapping to skids.
• Perform tests and repairs of drives, contactors, circuit breakers, encoders and tach generators.
• Record results.

Skills & Qualifications

• Associates degree in electrical/electronic engineering technology or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Six years control panel/electrical and/or fabrication experience.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical characteristics of materials and their applications.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical symbols, and electrical components including their uses and applications.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical test equipment including DMM's, Hipots, Meggar's, etc.
• Strong working knowledge in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and determining the appropriate materials to utilize based on their characteristics.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motor control technology.
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications in addition to gasses used on various metal applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Good knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to foster good employee/management relations and build a strong team effort to fulfill customers' expectations.
