Panel Control Technician

Howden, a Chart Industries Company, is a global engineering business providing industrial products for air and gas handling with over a century of experience. This onsite position is based in Windsor, CT.

About the role

As a Control Panel Technician, you will perform machining, assembly, and wiring operations on standard and custom control panels using diagrams, schematics, and complex blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform drilling, tapping, hole punching, and cutouts in enclosures and panels.
• Assemble and wire electrical control panels, including operators, pilot lights, pushbuttons, selector switches, relays, timers, contactors, starters, alternators, controllers, recorders, transmitters, PLCs, and similar equipment.
• Test functional operation of completed units and perform troubleshooting procedures.
• Read and follow blueprints and engineering documentation.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read engineering documentation (drawings, test specifications).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using a variety of hand tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with the operation and connection of low to medium three-phase motors.
• Electrical background or certification is a plus.

Physical Work Environment

• Standing for long periods of time.
• Stooping, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Walking throughout the production floor.
