Howden, a Chart Industries Company, is a global engineering business providing industrial products for air and gas handling with over a century of experience. This onsite position is based in Windsor, CT.
About the role
As a Control Panel Technician, you will perform machining, assembly, and wiring operations on standard and custom control panels using diagrams, schematics, and complex blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Perform drilling, tapping, hole punching, and cutouts in enclosures and panels.
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels, including operators, pilot lights, pushbuttons, selector switches, relays, timers, contactors, starters, alternators, controllers, recorders, transmitters, PLCs, and similar equipment.
- Test functional operation of completed units and perform troubleshooting procedures.
- Read and follow blueprints and engineering documentation.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read engineering documentation (drawings, test specifications).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using a variety of hand tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with the operation and connection of low to medium three-phase motors.
- Electrical background or certification is a plus.
Physical Work Environment
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Stooping, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Walking throughout the production floor.
