About the role

The Painter plays a crucial role in ensuring that machinery and equipment are not only visually appealing but also protected from corrosion and wear, contributing to the overall efficiency and longevity of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces of machinery for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primers as needed.
  • Apply paint and coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment according to specifications and industry standards.
  • Mix paint to match specified colors and ensure consistency throughout the painting process.
  • Inspect painted surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards, including proper coverage, smoothness, and adhesion.
  • Maintain painting equipment and tools in good working condition, including cleaning, calibrating, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to hazardous material handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and any issues encountered during the painting process.
  • Coordinate with other members of the manufacturing team, including engineers, technicians, and production managers, to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of painting tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings related to painting operations, and contribute ideas for enhancing product quality and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on new painting techniques, materials, and equipment through training programs and self-directed learning to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.

Requirements

  • Experience as a painter in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred.
  • Understanding of painting techniques, materials, and equipment used in industrial applications.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation, paint mixing, and application methods, with attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and convey information clearly and accurately.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in painting or industrial coatings may be beneficial but is not always required.
